Dr. James Cleary receives national recognition in hospice and palliative medicine

Dr. James Cleary

James Cleary, MD, professor, Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care, is one of 30 physicians in the nation named as top visionaries in hospice and palliative medicine.

The honor resulted from a recent poll of 6,500 members conducted by the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM). Visionary designees are selected as having made a significant impact in their own communities and around the world.

This is the second cohort of AAHPM Visionaries; the first 30 were identified in 2012, and new visionaries are selected every five years.

“This program recognizes key individuals who have been critical in building and shaping our field over the past 30 years,” noted Steve R. Smith, AAHPM CEO. “These individuals represent thousands of other healthcare professionals in this country who provide quality medical care and support for those living with serious illness—each and every day.”
