Dr. Ozioma Okonkwo invited to serve on Alzheimer's Association International Research Grant Program Council

Ozioma Okonkwo, PhD

Ozioma Okonkwo, PhD, assistant professor, Geriatrics and Gerontology, was invited to serve on the Alzheimer's Association International Research Grant Program (IRGP) Council.

The Council helps oversee the peer-review process of the Alzheimer's Association and provides input on developing funding programs and initiatives. It specifically focuses on developing funding opportunities that address gaps in National Institutes of Health funding for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, including underrepresented areas of research and opportunities for less-established investigators to better position them for future NIH funding.

Dr. Okonkwo will serve an initial three-year term on the IRGP Council. As a Council member, he will participate in crafting requests for applications for funding opportunities, provide expertise during the review process, and make funding recommendations to the Alzheimer's Association.
