What is your primary professional focus in any or all of our mission areas (clinical, research, and/or medical education)?
As a chief resident, my primary professional focus is currently medical education. I hope to continue with this throughout my career.
What drew you to UW-Madison and the Department of Medicine?
I knew I wanted to stay and serve as a chief resident after seeing the excellent chief residents that came before me. They were instrumental in the education and well-being of residents, which is a role I thought would be very rewarding.
What are you most excited about during your first year with the department in this role?
I am most excited about educating and interacting with residents. We are truly lucky to have a group of residents that look out for one another, are eager to learn, and give their all for our patients, so any time I get to work with them is very rewarding.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
When I'm not working, I enjoy sailing in the UW Hoofer Sailing Club and singing in the Madison Chamber Choir.
Favorite piece of advice from a mentor or inspiring figure in your life?
I have been inspired and heartened by several mentors at UW that truly value self-care. To be all that our patients need, we have to ensure that we are taking care of ourselves. As a chief resident, I plan on continuing to instill that as a core value in our program.
