New Faculty Q&A with William Jacoby, MD
William Jacoby, MD
Clinical Assistant Professor
Division of Hospital Medicine
What is your primary professional focus in any or all of our mission areas (clinical, research, and/or medical education)?
I'm excited to work in clinical care in the Division of Hospital Medicine, and also to get involved with medical education. I worked extensively with medical students during residency at Case Western, and really enjoyed helping to develop and implement med ed curriculum.
What drew you to UW-Madison and the Department of Medicine?
My experiences with the DoM during medical school at UWSMPH were what made me pursue internal medicine as a specialty. I especially admire the UWSMPH commitment to improving the health of the entire state, and appreciate the interesting, complex cases that we see at UW. I'm also happy to be closer to family and friends.
What are you most excited about during your first year with the department in this role?
I'm thrilled to join the Hospital Medicine team and work with such a skilled group of clinicians!
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
Anything outdoors: hiking, swimming, tennis, biking. I also enjoy baking, trivia, reading, and travel.
Favorite piece of advice from a mentor or inspiring figure in your life?
"Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good."
